We live in snow globes filled with music & chocolates..

I'm back on a cold wintery or close enough to winter night.

I was thinking about doing a christmas edition where it would be fill with jolly-ness and me saying how everything in this world is amazing including the dog peeing on the snowman outside my window. But i'm guessing you've sensed from now that this is in fact not happening.

I will however try to be jolly becuase I did find today a very nice day when I was walking around deep in snow till my ankles and couldn't help but smile on how beautiful snow actually is. So, we first start out by talking about food/drinks (yes, I do remember that I'm suposse to say something about that) but in reality I got nothing, zilch, zero... I do recall writing something about small chocolate ice creams so i'll just keep going with that theme and say that everybody really but seriously have to try to drink some hot chocolate milk on this cold evening while designing and decorating their own gingerbrean man (courtesy of xenos).  Now if you don't know what i'm talking about I think you should take another gander at my Facebook page where you will find a nicely decorate but sadly eaten gingerbread man. (R.I.P.).

Now moving on to what actually made this blog very famous ( Ha!,atleast I can make fun of my pityful little page).  Well this song i'm about to write about in fact made me really happy just now which is why I decided to go ahead and write the blogpost just now. I saw this clip ages but I mean ages ago.. and I went like a madwoman in search of this song but unfortunately I couldn't find it.

Now would you believe me if I was just searching for a new artist to like and I came across the band. It had nothing special about it for it to attract me. But just like a magnet drawn to something I decided to youtube their songs to see what they have got going on for me.

And just like the gates of heaven would open in my mind filled with random writings on walls of things people wrote and left behind I found the clip and song that was held dear in my heart for atleast 3 months.

So the band is called the Temper trap from Australia.

I would really suggest you to watch the clip i'm about to post because I trully love this clip. I find the kid amazing and everything about this clip screams out amazing. I mean, seriously...gingers running in long sleeves and shorts? and you still don't love this clip? then you have no heart dear sir! ...

I can't even describe how I feel about this just that I had the coolest feeling when I found this clip again. Like we were both penguins and we were meant to be..hehe ( if you don't get this you should watch more national geographic).

Okay so I went off track again like always. Well the song is called love lost and the lyrics from the song are actually quiet sweet. They start of by giving you the melancholy feeling and making you think, yup..we have all been there...and then within a second it fills you up with hope that one day all of your I.O.U's are due to come.

Now to the second song, and to be honest I was so excited about the first one that I actually haven't thought about this one. So while you're trying to read this I am in the meantime trying to find another song to put on...

wait....wait....wait....almost got it.....oh,lost it.....ok I got it back

and here it is. Since this is the semi-christmas edition I decided to put a song from an artist who I think everybody should have a little respect and appreciation for. I always imagined that when having a white christmas there would be fire on and this artist's song would be playing in the background.

Now,..we're playing  a song from a little man called Louis Armstrong called Dream a little dream.

I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I do while sipping the chocolate milk I was talking to you about. :)

Ps. Sorry if there's typo's but I'm not in the mood of reading through it to see if it's ok ...

Have a snowy night folks!

Hip hop being chased by tinie ice cream.

Today's post might be a bit more mainstream,..It's going to be less about girls with guitars singing about long lost love and regretful moments and more about new era hip hop-ish guys with about the same problem =).

Oh and don't worry I haven't forgotten about adding some delicious make your tummy growl meal/food moments.

First of all let me start with food then move on to music. And also to add maybe to my really random things to put on a blogpost, I have lately been having an obsession with puns an stick figure drawings so I just might add that as well just to give you a bit more to think of.

So on to food now...hmmm...food...*drifiting off* .. oh right i'm still here...Well I haven't done any new meals nor have I bought something different. On top of it my veggie of the month has been put on hold so there's really nothing new to say. However, I did have the cutest smallest tiniest ice cream cone in the world and it was awesome..oh and not to change from subject but I just remembered something..I decided to create this album where you see me taking picture with very big objects that are meant to be small ..you'll see one day. Hmmm...so on to the ice cream again..ow yeah..so it's really tiny and its with chocolate so I suggest people to go roaming the city to find these adorable little thing and eat about 6 of them cause 1 just wouldn't be enough.

Now on to music.. This week is going to be about british hip hop. First song that I like is from this rising star called "Tinie Tempah" (now you will get my play on word of my title). He use to be very underground but has found his way to every music channel here. The song that I like about him aside from his awesome name that he apparently chose when he was 11 is " Written in the stars".  This song futures another artist called Eric Turner which actually completes the song because without his input it just might sound like another hip hop trend.

Like most hip hop artist nowadays they always start by writing about there hard knocklife and how they got to where they are today. So lyrics in this song are not as relevant to me as most but it's still a very nice and catchy song.

Second song is actually song I use to really love to listen to but then I forgot about it and ironically stumbled upon it when looking through a friends favorites on youtube again (maybe she knows who she is when she sees it)  ** Drum roll**... The song is called End credits  it's from chases & status ft. plan B. I found out about the song because it's a soundtrack form a movie called Harry brown (which I would definetly recommend people to watch but I won't make this blog about movies as well so i'll just move on now..)

But I must say that the movie is very touching and make you really want to punch some British punks (I apologize from now on if I offended a whole country/island). The song actually give you an empowerment and a feeling on what actually is going on through someone's mind and the anger that people have, not to get too serious with you people but it give you a sense of melancholy on how a person only lives to feel that they're about to die the moment they open their doors. Add the jogging pants and the phrase you twat or wanker and you got yourself a saddening image in your mind.

I choose this picture because I think it fully captures the idea of the song. The hoodie, the feel and the background of hanging out near a worn down tunnel for a living gives you the idea of what the artist is trying to bring forth.

Phew, that was alot of thinking for one day ..i'm off now..... till next time =)

A time off for people to miss me.. *

Okay,..so it didn't go the way I thought. My plan was if I were to stop blogging for a couple of weeks that the world would stop and people would be so distraught that they would start a war and eventually we would go back to basic because we would've destroyed everything just because of my blog. No,....seriously.

But the real truth is that i've been it a busy and bit a lazy...Oh! I forgot to add that some of my lovely fans (more like my friends that I pay to read my blogs, okay...more like Chris v. Ledden (you're going to be very popular now)........suggested that I should add some food stuff in between seeing as i'm already doing that). So what I would like to try now for food is; watercress, goat cheese or tofu, and walnuts with a honey like dressing...but I haven't yet so if any of you guys do..please do share...cause that means that I have finally achieved to have my own guinea pigs/humans that can try the food i'm curious about.

So, on to actual blog posting...we're here after all for music...
My first song that I would like to share is that from a band called 'Cold war kids' ( doesn't the name says it all on how they seem to ooze cool-ness...) well the song that I want you guys to listen to this time is called  "Saint John"..

They're from America though I just found that out until now. I would've sworn that they from the other side from the pond but oh well.

The song is pretty much about someone locked up, a prisoner, a jailbird...whatever you would like to call it. But the feel and the beat of the song is quiet catchy and has a bit of a redneck-y feel to it (yes, from time to time I make my own words). So you should really listen to it..

So my second song is more of a cute song and one that you can take your eyes from rather than something cool to listen to while walking in the hall ways of your school. Well I guess you could stroll down with this song but I would be worry at al lthe weird looks and the occassional punch you might get if they should hear it.

The song is called Cuppycake song. I'm not really sure who it is exactly from because I keep finding different ones so I wouldn't want to credit someone in case it's not theirs. All I know is that It oculd be from Amy's castle, Strawberry shortcake or Balloons..just take your pick on which one you would prefer. But I am going to show the a clip from youtube that I found that I could keep my eyes from. I'm not sure if I find it adorable or if i'm worried that this kid should go to the doctor because the size of those things concern me.

Am I making you in any way curious???????

Aside from the freak-ish size of those things, I do think the lyrics of the song are really adorable and at one point or another people should sing it out loud for someone ....

Anyhoo,...hope you guys enjoy this post..

Do-wap de doo

Hey folks,

I'ts my fourth blog post,woo-hoo!.. I did celebrate my third post like I said I would by eating the most delicious brownie from bagels & beans that has a really cute coffee grain on top. But since this is not a blog about food (sadly....maybe I sohuld combine both). I'm gonna start talking about music soon enough.

This thursday i'm going to see a band play, and i'm very excited because it's been a very long time since i have gone to a concert. Last time that I can think of it was almost 6 months ago *shock*...and it was florence and the machine which was by far brilliant.

Well the band i'm going to see this week is called The Cat empire, so ofcourse my brilliant mind thought that I should dedicate this post to them.

First song that i'm going to nominate is called ' days like these'.

Second song that I would like to mention is called ' two shoes'.

They're Australian but the remind me much of home so the concert should be fun.
But the cool thing about them that I miss at home is that they have a mix of jazz infused in their songs, which makes their song by far more interesting.

Okay, so that's all I have for this time. I'm hungry and can only think of food right now..yum yum..

Third time's a charm

So, here I am finishing up a report for school that most people would find it boring enough to actually try to commit suicide.

i'll make this new post a bit more peppy-like than the two first ones. ( oh and btw, if you seem to notice that I seem to be missing the letter M in some words, that could be cause my frigging keyboard has some issues with the letter).

To keep tradition of my writing random things in the beginning of this post rather than talk about music. I am going to say something about myself. Hmmmm, (aha! the M works now). Okay I got nothing, only that yesterday when I went to buy some food to cook (it was exican, yummy). I didn't notice that my wallet was open and in true Lay kuen fashion I let all my coins fall everywhere on the floor while I was in front of the counter. Which ofcourse would equal to a really big line behind me looking like they would like to take out forks and torches to make a little parade for me.

Anyhoo, back to music. First song is from Santigold-the creator.

It's a couple of years old but everytime I hear the song it makes me want to learn how to dance.  Her music is a mix of reggea and new wave combined. This is where my less white version of me hides and the more carribean side of me takes over, hehe..

I also love her song called LES artistes, and I heard a cover from this girl and guy called lillywood & the prick ( I know, don't say it)... and I love the cover. It's different and more acoustic like but it might even be better than the original.

Okay, second song of this post is.....Drum rollllllll *****  the band of my choice is The black keys and the song is called tighten up.  They play american blue-rock and the one thing I can say about this song is well it's just pretty damn cool. The clip as well is pretty funny...so just watch it...

Well this is for now...I once read this line that stuck with me because I found it simple but just right for every occasion ..so i'm just gonna say it...

"One thing about my life, it has a great soundtrack".

C-you

It's that time again..

Yes boys and girls..

It's time for me to procrastinate once more on not doing homework and instead make a new blog =)..booyah!..I hope you guys liked my first one, and I had this great idea that if I end up making atleast 5 blogs I will throw a big party celebrating my anniversary.

Oh and out of topic of music, I would like for everybody to gather and start making a fund called " Get Lay that micro pig that she so desperately want".

Ok so on to music again. This week I found this really nice Australian guy that I actually came to admire. His name is Xavier Rudd and ironically he will be playing in Amsterdam around November if you guys would like to see him live. I know i'm hoping to get tickets so if you'd like to join me don't hesitate too much.

The song that I really like that I heard from him ( i'm not sure if it's his or not but oh well) is called ' Fortune teller'. the clip I saw is live and it looks by far an amazing show that wouldn't imagine missing. He is multi talented and has this quirky instrument called the didgeridoo (try saying that 10 times around) which is originally from the aboriginal people.

The song sounds to me very eclectic in a way and just has a beat to it that in a way makes you want to do some funky poses that I think fits perfectly with the song.

Anyhoo, my second choice for this week is a girl called Laura Marling with her song Blackberry stone (No!,it doesn't have to do with the phone). She's from England and as you know it she sings some heavenly folksy songs.

The song has a bit of a melancholy feeling behind it, but it wouldn't be one of my picks if there wasn't any morbid message hidden in it. My favorite line of this song is "I'd be sad that I never held your hand as you were lowered, but I'd understand that I'd never let it go".

The clip that I watched on youtube is a live version of the song and like always I much rather listen to the live version. It shows you more on what the song means to the artist and the feeling behind it (Yeah, I know sappy)

So i'll keep it short for now...

I was told that they've noticed how I was trying to create a new trademark for myself by saying 'Lay out'. So because of that reason I will keep my element of surprise and say something new each week. Take that! ..

See you next week.

Toodles.

My first blog

Well hello,..

I'm excited because I finally joined the blog world as most already have.
This blog is something simple and pretty much self-absorb, where I talk about the music I currently can't stop listening to. I'm hoping that by doing this a few people mind find new songs that they never thought to even look for.

I'm not really going to be talking about technical stuff about the song that I have chosen seeing as I myself am not very instrumental. I just want to show the music I love that give me butterflies in my tummy :-).

I used to listen to more heavier music such as metal and alternative when I was younger but have grown to love more folk and indie music within time. I do however, have my weak moments of liking some mainstream music which I will also show in this blog ( shamefully ofcourse).

So I really hope some people enjoy this :-).

For this weak i'm going to start with two songs that I havent been able to stop listening to. You know when you keep overplaying a song like 30 times? and you realise how utterly obsessed you have become and that you're a few step away from becoming a stalker? Well this week I am in that desperate phase.

First song I can't stop listening to is from Florence and the Machine called - Between two lungs.

As I start listening to it now in order for me to write just  how much I love it I get a chill of it. I would also have to mentioned that I really love writing so when  pick some songs I tend to really enjoy the lyrics for one reason or another. This song just makes me jolly, like I would like to take off my shoes and jump in a puddle. I really like her voice and not to mention that beautifull red hair of hers that I am by far jealous of. The song gives me a sense that I have to get up and do something different for a living and sometimes everybody need to get that feeling to get out of their own mind set.

Ok, now the second song that I would recommend is from Mumford and sons and it's called White blank pages.

I must say that I really wish I can see them live. Sadly, the tickets have been sold for a very long time. I might even consider giving a kidney ( uhm, to buy for you to cook...not actually donate one :-). oh yeah and I can make very lame jokes, but that's beside the point now. I really love how their songs are written and someday I wish that I will be sprinkled with the magical dust to make me write in such ways. My favorite line of this song is when they say '' Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole lie". I just became drawn to that line and how many ways you can perceive that.

I'll make it sure this time... I'll put the links below if anybody would actually like to listen to these songs.

Lay out ....
